Polio-hit Debasish joins brother on bicycle to travel across India

Darjeeling: Two brothers from Kolkata cycled all the way from their hometown on a tandem cycle for nearly a week and reached Darjeeling on Sunday.

The Joydeb Shaw (57) and Debasish Shaw (63), who hail from Salt Lake in Kolkata, recently started cycling to different places on their tandem cycle and are planning to cycle around the country like this way.

It is to be mentioned that Debashis’s right leg was affected by polio since he was just five years old. However, this couldn’t become a reason for him to stop doing things in an extraordinary way. He learnt to ride a bicycle on his own, followed by a bike and then truck. He drove trucks all over India for around 10 years and he covered almost all parts of India, Nepal and Bhutan on a Bullet motorcycle and for a change in experience this time he started his travel on a tandem bicycle after getting his brother to accompany him.
