Biplab Das hails from Karimganj in Assam

Guwahati: Assam boy Biplab Das defeated Juned Ahmed from Bangladesh in an international kickboxing bout held at SAI Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday.

The international bout was held between Juned Ahmed from Bangladesh and Biplab Das from Karimganj, India, in which the latter won by knockout.

The event, called ‘Versus Championship #03’, was organised by Dastbi MMA in which there was a total of 28 bouts and 54 fighters that included three women bouts as well. The attraction of the event was the two major fights known as Super fight and The Title Belt Fight.

Dastbi MMA co-founder Angkim Kashyap Sarma said, “Versus is the next generation platform for fighters. We are aggressive for bringing out the skills and talent. If there is anyone out there who is lacking platform and training, just reach out to us.”

“We are planning to bring more international fighters in the next season and hopefully we can make the upcoming season a grand one,” he added.

Super Fight took place between Meghalaya’s heartthrob Johny H Nongrum and Sagnick Gupta, a renowned fighter from Assam. Nongrum defeated Gupta to clinch the title.

The Title Belt bout was held between Babit Kharsahnoh, who was the best fighter in the Versus Championship #01, and Rahul Chakraborty from Assam. Kharsahnoh won the bout.
