After launching multiple operations in district since Sept 13, cops successfully rescue victim from a deserted house in Howraghat town on Thursday morning
Diphu: In a major breakthrough, the police nabbed three persons in connection to a kidnapping case from Howraghat area of Assam’s Karbi Anglong district early on Thursday morning.
The arrested persons have been identified as 47-year-old Tapan Teron, 30-year-old Moniram Gowala and 40-year old Rudra Basumatary, all of them residents of Howraghat town.
As per sources, the accused were involved in the kidnapping of one Bijoy Agarwal, a businessman hailing from Dokmoka area of the district on the intervening night of September 13 and 14.
After launching multiple operations at Hojai, and other locations of the district, including in nearby Nagaland, the district police on Thursday morning managed to rescue Agarwal from the hands of kidnappers who were hiding in a deserted house in Howraghat town.
The police team also recovered a motorcycle that was used by the accused in kidnapping Agarwal from Dokmoka on September 13.
According to the police, the medical examination of the victim has been done and he is found to be slightly weak, as per the reports.
Meanwhile, People's Democratic Council of Karbi Longri (PDCK), a banned militant outfit, in a statement recently clarified that the outfit does not have any involvement in the abduction of businessman Agarwal.
