Guwahati: The Assam government announced the launch of two public welfare schemes -- ‘Aponar Apon Ghar’ and ‘Abhinandan’ -- for the people living in the state on Tuesday.
State’s finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement and formally launched the twin schemes in an event held at the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation head office in Guwahati.
'Aponar Apon Ghar' is an extended version of the previous 'Apon Ghar Home Loan' subsidy scheme made available in the state. It will provide a subsidy of up to Rs 2.5 lakh on home loans till Rs 40 lakh. As per the new state’s home loan scheme, permanent residents of the state, including private organisation employees and journalists, can enjoy the benefits provided under the scheme.
In order to apply for the newly launched home loan scheme in state, an applicant has to first visit a government office but can apply for the subsidies only after he receives a housing loan from a private sector bank. A person can also apply for the facilities by browsing to the state’s finance department’s official website, www.finance.assam.gov.in.
Meanwhile, the state the government in its latest announcement also decided to provide subsidies on education loans under the Abhinandan scheme.
As per the new educational subsidy scheme, students from the state can facilitate a subsidy of up to Rs 50,000 in all educational loans that are presently available.
