On Sept 21, CM Sarbananda Sonowal ordered probe into incident after video of SP Rajen Singh thrashing ACS officer Sailen Das inside a hotel complex went viral
Guwahati: A day before submitting the final report of the face-off between Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh and executive magistrate Sailen Dutta Das inside a hotel earlier last week, Lower Assam Commissioner SS Meenakshi Sundaram interacted with officials till Tuesday night at DC office in Assam’s Kokrajhar district.
According to reports, Sundaram interacted with witnesses, including senior level officials, as well as junior officials. He also called some people twice while inquiring into the matter.
Sundaram was given charge after chief minister Sarbanana Sonowal ordered an inquiry into the incident, which went viral on social media and made headlines in several publications.
He arrived at the district circuit house in Kokrajhar and visited Gaurang Valley Hotel where the reported incident took place during an office party on September 9.
Speaking to media on sidelines of his investigation, Sundaram informed that he had a one-on-one talk with SP Singh and magistrate Das to get more details into the incident.
Commissioner Sundaram also said that he met with the Kokrajhar DC, Partha Pratim Majumdar, at his office as part of his investigation.
The top official from the state administration said that the chief minister had ordered an inquiry into the reported case and the investigation would be undertaken in a fair manner. He also informed that the investigation reports will hopefully come within a very short period of time.
“The inquiry is to be fair and impartial with authentication into viral information,” Sundaram said.
As reported earlier by EastMojo, SP Rajen Singh refuted the allegations made against him. He said that the alleged “fight” does not have any connection to their respective positions.
While clarifying over the reported incident to media persons on Saturday, Singh said that he doesn’t hold any grudge against executive magistrate Sailen Das, rather they were hostel mates at Rajni Kanta Bordoloi hostel while pursuing their graduation at then Cotton College in Guwahati.
“I don’t have any personal grudge or jealousy with Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer Sailen Das,” added Singh.
