Residents of Guwahati, especially women and their family members, got to experience driving tricks at the two-day off-roading initiative organised by Mahindra and Mahindra
Guwahati: In a first-of-its-kind initiative, residents of Guwahati in Assam, particularly women and their family members got to experience the thrill of driving and learn various driving tricks at Xtreme U, a two-day off-roading event organised by auto major Mahindra & Mahindra on Saturday and Sunday.
Popular Assamese actress Nishita Goswami inaugurated the first season of the 3rd edition of Xtreme U as the chief guest in Guwahati on Saturday. The previous editions were held in Kolkata.
The power-packed event gave the city’s residents an opportunity to enjoy driving techniques from a team of special national motorists and stunt experts. The vehicle used during the event was Mahindra’s newly-launched XUV300.
Speaking with EastMojo, Rajdeep, an organiser from Mahindra and Mahindra, said that Mahindra vehicles are popular in India for their ruggedness and power, helping in smoother movements even in tough terrains. "In Northeast India, which has some of the toughest terrains in the country, the newly-launched XUV300 will help movement in every condition,” he said.
“Guwahatians should come here and feel the power and throttle of the newly launched Mahindra XUV300,” he said.
Taking about the features and performance of the newly-launched vehicle, a national special motorist driver from Kolkata, Sourav Chowdhary, said that XUV300 is not an absolute sports utility vehicle (SUV), but it can be used for soft off-roading.
“XUV300 is not a proper SUV as it does not come with a four-wheel drive. However, it can do some soft off-roading because of its power and throttle,” Chowdhary added.
Meanwhile, sending a message to thrill lovers of the region, Chowdhary appealed everyone to do off-roading and other stunts like drifting in open grounds and only by wearing all the required safety gear.
“Drifting should be strongly avoided on public roads; it should only be practised on tracks and in open grounds,” he added.
Mahindra XUV300’s current prices in India for its petrol engine model start at Rs 8.10 lakh and goes up to Rs 11.79 lakh, while prices for the diesel variant starts from Rs 8.69 lakh and goes up to Rs 12.69 lakh. The newly launched model is available in 12 variants and in seven colours.
