Guwahati: On charges of sending death threat to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) against a prominent face of the current Indian cricket squad, a team of Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Mumbai arrested one youth from Dharamtul area of Morigaon district on Tuesday.

The youth, who sent the e-mail threat to the Indian team player through BCCI, has been identified as Braja Mohan Das.

The ATS team reached Morigaon on Tuesday morning following a complaint lodged by the BCCI against the youth, who allegedly sent the e-mail against one of the top players of the current Indian team.

Later on Tuesday, the accused Braja Mohan Das appeared before a local court. Security sources informed EastMojo that Das has been kept under the custody of Assam Police. However, security agencies are maintaining silence over the whole issue.

Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on August 16 received an anonymous email, which stated that the Indian team - currently in West Indies for a full series - is under threat of an imminent terror attack.

According to media reports, the PCB immediately forwarded the email to the International Cricket Council (ICC). The BCCI also received a copy of the same within the next 24 hours.

The BCCI on August 17 informed the union home ministry about the situation and also alerted the Indian embassy in Antigua, where Virat Kohli’s side is scheduled to play a Test against the Windies starting August 22.

India won the T20 and ODI series against the Windies 3-0 and 2-0 respectively. The two-match Test series will mark the beginning of India’s journey in the inaugural ICC World Test Championship.
