Guwahati: Leading educator and mathematician Anand Kumar, best known for his ‘Super 30’ programme, said that students should strengthen their will power to achieve success in life.
Kumar, based on whose famous programme Hrithik Roshan-starrer Super 30 was made recently, said that the movie was made for students, especially those from the underprivileged sections of society.
The main idea behind making the movie was to inspire and motivate people, Kumar said after attending an interactive session with children from slum areas and over seven childcare homes of the Kamrup (Metro) district in Assam on Monday. The event was organised by UTSAH, a Guwahati-based child rights organisation, at Anuradha Cineplex in Bamunimaidan in Guwahati. The session was preceded by the screening of the movie, Super 30.
Kumar’s ‘Super 30’ programme, which he started in Patna, Bihar in 2002, coaches underprivileged students for IIT-JEE, the entrance examination for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). By 2018, 422 out of 480 students from his programme had made it to the IITs.
Super 30’s intention to place education at the top of the societal chain was just one of the many things that made the film a raging success, with many in the audience hailing it as a must-watch film of the year.
Talking to EastMojo, UTSAH executive director Miguel Das Queah said, “A few days ago, I watched the movie Super 30 played by Hrithik Roshan which actually portrays the life of Anand Kumar, a national award-winning mathematician and how his contribution actually helped children from marginalised sections of society to actually get into IITs. I was quite inspired myself and since UTSAH has been working for neglected and marginalised children for the past nine years, we thought it would be nice to invite Anand Kumar to Guwahati and facilitate an interactive session with the children from the slums and children homes across the city.”
The event was organised in collaboration with Assam State Social Welfare Board, Assam State Transportation Corporation (ASTC), Sapient Consultancy and Anuradha Cineplex.
