Guwahati: The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has postponed the mains of the Combined Competitive Examinations 2018 due to the prevailing flood situation in the state.
The exams, which were supposed to be conducted from July 22 to 31, have been postponed. However, the exams which were supposed to take place from August 2 to 9 will remain the same, as per an APSC notice issued on July 17.
In the press note, the APSC said: "The Combined Competitive Examination is conducted for all eligible candidates and it is the aim of the Commission to see that all candidates sit in the examination. But due to the prevailing situation created by the unprecedented flood, there is likelihood that a section of the candidates would be deprived of the opportunity of sitting in the examination which will render the competition incomplete and not fair.”
The second wave of floods has given a severe blow to Assam, hampering the everyday lives of people. At least 17 people have already lost their lives and over 45 lakh people have been affected by the floods in the state so far.
