Guwahati: Recognising and celebrating radio jockeys (RJ) country-wide, the India Radio Forum (IRF) has selected seven RJs from Assam under the ‘Most Popular RJ’ category for its 14th edition of Excellence in Radio Awards (ERA). The premier award show will be held in Gurgaon on May 31.
The nominees from the state for the 2019 awards are — RJ Sujita, RJ Subhankar and RJ Aaliya from 92.7 Big FM; RJ Mandy and RJ Pahi from Red FM-93.5, RJ Rituparna Das from All India Radio, Guwahati and RJ Cooldeep from Radio Mirchi. All the RJs have been nominated for work/shows in Assamese language, apart from RJ Aaliya who has been nominated for English, Hindi and Assamese language as well.
ERA picks the best from the Indian radio industry and honours for their outstanding programming, on-air personalities, marketing and promotions, and creativity within the industry.
Speaking to EastMojo, RJ Aaliya said, “First of all, I am already a winner!” She has been overwhelmed with the tremendous response and said, those who listen to my show and people whom I have interviewed are calling me and saying we are getting as much votes for you as possible.
She said in the past few days she has already received over 200 screenshots of people voting for her.
The winners for the awards are chosen on the basis of highest votes. It follows a quite simple and fair procedure wherein from one email id, a person can vote only once, eliminating the chance of multiple votes.
The Excellence in Radio Awards celebrates the very best of Indian radio, honouring outstanding programming, on-air personalities, marketing and promotions, and creativity within the industry.
The event will be attended by eminent speakers from the industry like Big FM CEO Abraham Thomas; Anita Bose, Chief Operating Officer, Madison Media; Rajiv Dubey, General Manager, Dabur India; CEO of Radio City Ashit Kukian; Dentsu X CEO Divya Karani and RJ Raunac, RJ Naved among others.
