The incident took place when the trio went to the river near Chhaygaon in Kamrup district to take bath before attending a religious ceremony
Chhaygaon: Bodies of three girls, who were feared to be drowned in Kolhi river near Chhaygaon in Kamrup district of Assam, were recovered on Monday afternoon. Among the trio, two are minors.
The incident took place when Rinki Kalita (20), Mausumi Kalita (16) and Priti Kalita (15) went to the river to take bath to attend a community religious ceremony on Monday morning. While Rinki hailed from Milanpur, Chaygoan; Mausumi belonged to Bhaipara, Chaygaon and Priti to Bhatijiyakur.
“They went to the ghat, located along the bank of the river, to take bath. However, they lost their balance and fell into the deep waters,” said a local resident.
