Prabrajan Virodhi Manch convener Upamanyu Hazarika lashes out at Assam BJP for filing ‘false’ complaint against him; says, if arrested, he won’t even apply for bail
Guwahati: Lashing out at the complaint filed by the Assam wing of the BJP, Prabrajan Virodhi Manch convener and independent candidate for Guwahati Lok Sabha seat Upamanyu Hazarika said that the saffron party’s legal cell has made a laughing stock of itself and termed it to be false. He also went on to say that if arrested regarding the ‘false complaint’, Hazarika will not even apply for bail.
“BJP’s Guwahati candidate Queen Ojha filed a false affidavit and within one week’s time they also filed a false complaint against me which recorded that we entered their office between 1 and 1:30 pm. They also accused us of trespassing into their empty office and stealing publicity material. The Facebook live screenshot that we attached clearly says that the time was 3:30 pm and the video footage also shows that the office was entirely empty with no publicity material around,” Hazarika said adding that he will file a case against the BJP in Noonmati police station.
A senior advocate of the Supreme Court, Hazarika also accused the government of misusing power and stated that he will knock on the door of the Election Commission.
“As I heard that one of the police officials has registered the case against me and they are ready to investigate. If they had registered the case, then we can see how government is misusing the power. I will complain this to the Election Commission that BJP is using false strategy for their campaign,” Hazarika added.
The Assam unit of BJP filed a police complaint against Hazarika on charges of trespassing into one of their election offices and stealing some important document.
