Guwahati: Like in previous years, Goodstock once again played host to several talented musicians from across the region at Panikhaiti, some 21 km from Guwahati in Assam.

The mega open-air jamboree turned 12 this year. Started in 2009, the private event is hosted by Guwahati-based entrepreneur Jitu Das at his yard at Panikhaiti on March 13 every year.

This year, the event kicked off with a nine-year-old music prodigy taking to the tunes of Adele, followed by a little five-year-old setting the stage on fire with Bob Marley’s Buffalo Soldier.

Goodstock is open to all, be it a child or a septuagenarian, solo singer or band. The event brings together music lovers from across the region with an idea to give back to music what it has given us.

Papu Gohain, organising team member of Goodstock, said it is a wonderful opportunity for newcomers as well as those learning music. “It is not a competition but a mode of entertainment where they [music enthusiasts] can showcase their talent and everyone enjoys them. I myself used to perform here and now my students are performing and they are confident and can sing very well, and that’s the best thing about Goodstock," he added.

The event saw many seasoned artists putting together a show for music lovers of the region. Other highlights of the event his year included an origami workshop for children and lip-smacking food.
