Governor’s Citation

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) B D Mishra on Thursday presented the ‘Governor’s Citation’ to the 6th battalion of 11th Gorkha Rifles (11 GR) and 20th battalion of Sikh Regiment (20 SIKH) at Raj Bhavan here.

Colonel Pankaj Kumar of 11 GR and Colonel A B Sahu of 20 SIKH along with their Subedar Majors and their junior most sepoys received the citation from the governor.

Governor Mishra commended the battalions for effectively performing their operational roles, maintaining good relations with the district administration and creating an excellent bonhomie with the civil population.

He wished both the battalion success in their future assignments.

The governor appreciated the 11 GR’s battalion for establishing good civil-military relationship through various outreach and initiatives like medical camps, infrastructure support and promotion of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in the remote villages of the state.

The 6th battalion has been assisting the civil administration, government officials and local people to develop Kaho in Anjaw district as a model village.

The governor at the same time also appreciated the 20 SIKH for rendering humanitarian assistance to the local population by providing medical facilities, constructing huts at high altitude traditional grazing grounds, repairing bridges, facilitating the preservation of people’s worshiping places and carrying out geospatial mapping of the area.

Mishra further called upon the Indian Army’s battalions to create awareness regarding the spread of Covid-19.

He advised them to motivate the people to take vaccination and maintain Covid Appropriate Behaviour while interacting with them.

The governor exhorted the battalions to continue their good work, especially create goodwill amongst the people of Arunachal Pradesh and also encourage and train the local youths, including girls to join the Indian armed forces.
