With regards to the social media influencer’s stay at the jail here, Singh said he is being treated like a normal prisoner and is getting the same treatment that the regular inmates do.

Singh also said that Paras’s lawyer is in touch with his family members.

DGP R P Upadhyaya said Paras would be under his own control being in judicial custody. He will remain in judicial custody till the time he is granted bail. “That’s the law,” the DGP said.

YouTuber Paras Singh was arrested by the Ludhiana police in Punjab on May 26 for making racial remarks against senior Congress MLA Ninong Ering and the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

Following his arrest, Paras was brought to Itanagar on May 27 by a team of SIT from the state.

The court had on May 29 sent the YouTuber to judicial custody for 6 days.

Paras had made the racial comments while reacting to a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by Ering recently wherein he had appealed to the latter to ban the relaunch of PUBG Mobile India’s new avatar Battlegrounds Mobile India.

Ering, also a former Lok Sabha member, had reasoned that the game was aimed at deceiving the government and citizens and should be banned in the country.

Later on being interrogated by the SIT, the YouTuber had revealed that the controversial video was made by him to gain widespread attention and views, so that his monetary income could be maximized.

A case under section 124A/ 153A/ 505(2) IPC has been registered against Paras by the state’s cyber crime team while multiple FIRs have also been lodged across Arunachal against the YouTuber.
