Itanagar: The three-day-long ‘conference-cum-buyer-seller meet’ organised by the Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board (APAMB) in collaboration with Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APFPEDA) came to an end with several buyers visiting the agricultural farms of Papum Pare district on Sunday.

The event which began at the legislative assembly auditorium here on Friday was aimed at boosting the exports of agricultural products from the Northeastern states in general and Arunachal in particular.

The APEDA in its endeavour to promote the export of agricultural products from the north eastern region and facilitate market linkages for agri-exports has been organising similar buyer-seller meets in the past.

The conference-cum-buyer-seller meet also witnessed several MoUs being signed between the farmers’ associations and private producer companies. An MoU to establish farm-gate logistics in Lower Subansiri, Lohit and Changlang districts was also signed between the APAMB and Central Railside Warehouse Cooperation (CRWC) during the conference.

“The event provided a platform for B2B and B2G meetings of buyers and exporters with the progressive farmers/ growers to explore the opportunities and prospects of agri-exports from Arunachal,” APAMB chief executive officer Okit Paling said.

The conference witnessed the participation of 25 APEDA-registered exporters from various parts of the country along with farmers from 25 districts of the state to find opportunities for export of various agricultural commodities from Arunachal Pradesh, Paling said.

The APAMB CEO said managing directors and chief executive officers of around 12 farmer producer companies from the state also took part in the event to learn more about the export market and showcase their crops to potential buyers.

Industries minister Tumke Bagra, agriculture minister Tage Taki, Kanubari MLA and advisor to agriculture minister Gabriel D Wangsu, CRWC managing director N K Grover, agriculture secretary Parto Saha, among others, attended the valedictory function.
