Mechuka: Arunachal Pradesh PHE minister Wangki Lowang in the presence of legislative assembly speaker P D Sona on Monday inaugurated the new office building of the PHE & Water Supply (Mechuka division) department here.

The newly constructed building which has all the modern amenities is equipped with separate rooms for executive, assistant and junior engineers and the subordinate staff.

Interacting with the officers and officials, Lowang suggested they take care of their new office and also perform their duty sincerely.

“Always work for the welfare of the people,” he said.

The minister, speaker and a host of other dignitaries later planted tree saplings within the office premises.

Lowang on the day also inaugurated the water treatment plant at Singbir village and water supply schemes for several villages such as Thargelling, Kemrong, Bumjipanga, Mechukha, Sokarpu, Dechentang West, Nangso, Manegang and Galling.

Addressing the locals, Lowang expressed his gratitude for the hospitality extended to him and his team at Mechukha in particular and Shi-Yomi district in general during his maiden visit to the region.

The minister later visited the 400-year-old Samten Yangchag Gompa and offered his prayers.

One being requested by the Gompa management for a water connection at the monastery premise, Lowang instructed the officers concerned to examine the feasibility and submit a report to his office soon.

The minister and speaker also visited the Dorjeelling village and interacted with the public.
