Itanagar: Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Mama Natung on Monday declared open the Northeast National Service Scheme (NSS) Festival-2021 at the Dera Natung Government College (DNGC) here.
Organised by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh unit of NSS, the 5-day-long festival acts as a platform for the participants to interact with each other to encourage and promote the diverse culture and traditions of the region.
Natung, in his address, called upon the youths to keep a positive mindset at all times and shoulder responsibility in nation-building.
“You (youths) are the backbone the society and they can change the future of the nation. So you need to have a positive approach at all times,” he said.
The minister further conveyed his wishes to the participants and appealed to them to take the festival as a learning opportunity.
In all, 300 NSS volunteers, and 25 programme officers from 7 northeastern states are participating in the 5-day festival during which the youths would get engaged in several literary and socio-cultural activities.
Leadership and personality development training, sports and games etc are other inclusions of the event.
Among others, Nari-Koyu MLA and advisor to education minister Kento Rina, state chief information commissioner Dr Joram Begi, education commissioner Niharika Rai, state nodal officer (NSS) Dr AK Mishra and DNGC principal M Q Khan participated in the inaugural event.
