Arunachal: Changlang district bags gold in 'Digital India Award 2020'
Tinsukia: Recognising the exemplary services and initiatives in digital governance, Changlang, one of the remotest district of frontier state Arunachal Pradesh, bagged a gold in the Digital India Awards 2020.
On Wednesday, the President of India Ram Nath Kovind presented the Digital India Awards 2020 - an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology - via video conferencing.
Within hours, Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu tweeted Congratulations #Changlang district on winning #DigitalIndiaAward2020 in the category of ‘Excellence in digital governance (district)’. Kudos to Changlang administration for achieving a significant milestone in providing citizen-centric digital solutions.
The President while presenting Digital India Awards 2020 acknowledged that it was the technological advances that helped us to ride through the darkest hours during the pandemic. "Technological advances, often termed as ‘disruptions’, helped us overcome the big disruption to a great extent," said the President.
Gracing the occasion, the President said, that India was not only prepared to minimise the adverse impact of mobility-restrictions but also utilized the crisis as an opportunity to march ahead in various arenas. "It was possible only because the digital infrastructure has been strengthened in recent years, institutions offering lessons online is a live example of how education continued despite all adversities."
From the judiciary to tele-medicine, multiple sectors switched to the virtual mode. "For the government too, information technology was one of the most crucial tools to deliver a variety of services to citizens and keep the wheels of the economy turning," he said.
The President urged to keep exploring innovative solutions for government offices in the paperless and contactless mode for the security and benefit of every citizen and will make administrative processes more eco-friendly.
Since 2009, every two years, the Digital India Awards platform honours exemplary initiatives and practices in Digital-Governance by recognising efforts by districts in designing citizen-centric digital solutions that bring government services closer to the citizens.
The sixth edition of the Digital India Awards witnessed felicitation of 24 teams across half a dozen categories that include Innovation in Pandemic; Excellence in Digital Governance; Excellence in Digital Governance; Excellence in Digital Governance; Open Data Champion; and Exemplary Product.
