Arunachal Pradesh wins India Today award for 'fight against COVID-19’
Arunachal Pradesh has been awarded as the 'leading small state in fight against COVID-19' and 'the most improved small state in education' in India Today's annual State of the States study 2020.
Sharing the news on Twitter, Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that awards are "A result of exemplary #TeamArunachal spirit."
Khandu added, "Education has been our biggest priority. Due to enormous effort put by education department and teachers in imparting quality education, the state has topped the @IndiaToday #StateOfTheStatesAward 2020 list in the most improved small state in #Education."
Talking about award in COVID-19 management, the chief minister said that he dedicates the award to the "doctors, nurses, paramedics, helpers and police personnel who toiled day and night to keep us all safe." Adding, that the achievement would not have been possible without support from civil society organisations.
On a point scale of 100, Arunachal scored 71.2 to bag the first position, followed by Mizoram at 63 and Delhi at 59.6.
India Today introduced the new category of states battling against COVID-19 as a "special one-time ranking is an assessment of the performance and preparedness of the states in combating the spread of the virus and reducing fatalities."
