Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh government has formed a committee under the chairmanship of deputy chief minister Chowna Mein to discuss and come out with a possible solution to the Mon Autonomous Region (MAR) and Patkai Autonomous Council (PAC) demand imbroglio.

An order issued by political under secretary, Likha Sampu recently said "The committee has been constituted for holding a meeting with the Community Based Organisations (CBO) on the issues related to constitutional safeguards for the indigenous people of the state."

The nine-member committee has seven cabinet ministers -- Bamang Felix, Alo Libang, Tumke Bagra, Mama Natung, Tage Taki, Taba Tedir and Nakap Nalo -- as its members, while home commissioner Kaling Tayeng has also been made a part of it.

The committee will hold consultation with all the CBOs and will submit a report to the government, the order said.

Sources in the government informed that the meeting is likely to be held in Itanagar on August 19.

Following resentment from several quarters to the Mon Autonomous Region Demand Committee's (MARDC) demand for a tripartite talk to be initiated with the state and Central government in regards to the creation of MAR, chief minister Pema Khandu on August 5 had proposed for a discussion to held on the issue.

He had also announced to form a committee to lead the discussion.
