Itanagar: The capital complex of Arunachal Pradesh is under complete lockdown from July 6 to August 3. During this time, rapid COVID-19 tests are being carried out at various sectors/colonies in Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).
The decision of rapid COVID-19 tests in the ICR was voted by the district administration after several health workers and police personnel tested positive for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, a video of two individuals is making rounds on social media. In the video, one of the persons is narrating his story of confusion in test results and also requesting the public to opt for several consecutive tests, if found positive for COVID-19.
The person in the video claims to be a resident of Modirijo area under ICR. The individual in the video said, “On 22 July, a team from the health department came to Modirijo for Antigen Test. As I wanted to go back to my village and I would need a certificate to enter the village, I did my test on the spot.”
“On the same day i.e., July 22, I tested positive for COVID-19. Now, I was waiting for a vehicle to go the Covid Care Centre (CCC) at Lekhi. Neither a vehicle arrived nor someone from the health department called me. Later, I tried to call the health officials several times but nobody responded,” he said.
“Next day, on July 23, I received a call from the driver of the vehicle which would take me to CCC. However, I refused to board the vehicle,” he said.
“I was allowed to stay with my family members despite being COVID-19 positive for more than 24 hours which is totally dangerous,” he questioned.
“Therefore, on July 24, I along with my family members went for a test at Shiv Mandir COVID-19 camp and all of us tested negative,” he said.
“So, I would like to appeal the public of Itanagar to opt for consecutive retests, if tested positive for COVID-19,” he said.
When contacted, secretary health, P Parthiban, said that DC ICC has been asked to look into the issue.
District medical officer, capital complex, Dr M Perme, said, “He tested negative in RT PCR, RAT and Antigen Kit Tests.”
