Itanagar: More than 35 employees from the office of district medical officer (DMO) at Roing under Lower Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh have been directed to strict home quarantine after one of the staff tested positive for COVID-19 on June 12.

An order from the deputy commissioner consisting of the names of the staff from DMO office for home quarantine was issued on June 15.

If sources are to be believed, the data entry operator (woman) had left for Jorhat to bring back her family members to Roing on June 12. In Jorhat entry point, her sample was collected and afterwards, she tested positive for COVID-19.

The woman had complained of fever a day before leaving Roing. However, she had not had any travel history whatsoever, and had never come in contact with the medical team working at the Covid-19 care centre. Therefore, when and how she contracted the virus is still unknown, informed our sources.

Meanwhile, swab samples of all the DMO staff have been collected on Tuesday, and the results are awaited.

As of now, the state has 92 active cases and seven recovered. The State tally is at 99 with no death.

Changlang district with 60 cases is still the district with highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state followed by capital complex and East Siang with nine cases each.
