Itanagar: At a time when some people are complaining about the quarantine facilities in Arunachal Pradesh, there is another section of society who is not only setting an example for others but is also trying to help the state government in the fight against COVID-19.
Around 100 individuals from Mirem village in Bilat circle near Pasighat in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh has come together to construct rooms for home quarantine for people returning to the state from other parts of the country amid COVID-19 pandemic.
There are 10 rooms along with 10 separate toilets and, interestingly, they were all built in a single day. The eco-friendly huts are made of Toko Patta (Levistona Jenkinsiana Griff) — a tree species found in Arunachal Pradesh — and bamboo.
These rooms are meant for the people of this particular village who are returning from different parts of the country. The villagers have decided to let the returnees stay in this site before joining their families.
