Itanagar: At a time when students of private schools are privileged enough to avail of facilities including hi-tech laboratories, some government schools lack even basic facilities like fans or bulbs. Such was the case of a government middle school in C-sector area of Yazali under Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh, until a group of government officers came forward to help.

The school, which is one of the best performing schools in the state and has over 380 students, was not connected with electricity. It was then that a team of government officers working at Yazali came forward and contributed for electrification of the school.

"In line with corporate social responsibility, government officers should also take up individual social responsibility," said Tashi Wangchu Thongdok, who is serving as a circle officer at Yazali.
