Govt officers working at Yazali in Lower Subansiri district come forward to contribute for electrification of school with over 380 students
Itanagar: At a time when students of private schools are privileged enough to avail of facilities including hi-tech laboratories, some government schools lack even basic facilities like fans or bulbs. Such was the case of a government middle school in C-sector area of Yazali under Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh, until a group of government officers came forward to help.
The school, which is one of the best performing schools in the state and has over 380 students, was not connected with electricity. It was then that a team of government officers working at Yazali came forward and contributed for electrification of the school.
"In line with corporate social responsibility, government officers should also take up individual social responsibility," said Tashi Wangchu Thongdok, who is serving as a circle officer at Yazali.
Thongdok, who started this noble initiative, said: "I would like to appeal all those who are in privileged position to take up initiatives especially in the field of health and education."
Stating that more such activities would be carried out in the future, he informed that they would be distributing sanitisation items to all schools of Yazali before re-opening of these schools.
Along with Thongdok, other government officers who supported the cause and are currently posted in Yazali include PWD executive engineer NL Tagu; RWD assistant engineer Nich Teli; WRD assistant engineer Tasi; PWD junior engineer Tao Tekhi; PHED junior engineer Toko Dodum; forest range officer Tao taro; OSD to education minister Chukhu Mama; and Baath Heli Memorial Society chairman Baath Vicky.
Earlier, the team of officers also contributed towards providing a separate power line to the higher secondary girls' hostel in Yazali. Hot water heating rods were also distributed to the students.
