COVID19: How Arunachal governor led by example during Janta Curfew

Governor BD Mishra & first lady cancel all appointments & engagements of day and stay indoors during ‘Janta Curfew’ amid global coronavirus threat

Itanagar: In pursuance of the appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to combat the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus), ‘Janta Curfew’ was observed on Sunday from 7 am till the evening by all at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar. Other than a very few who rendered essential services, all remained confined to their houses.

Governor BD Mishra and first lady of the state cancelled all appointments and engagements of the day and stayed indoors.

The governor said that the effort, ‘Janta Curfew’, will break the chain of the spread of coronavirus infection (COVID-19). He called for full social isolation, avoiding of crowded gatherings, reducing of non-essential movement, physical distancing in public places and stay at home as precautions, to prevent spreading of coronavirus. He appealed that the state, in unison, must rise to the occasion and have humanitarian and good fellow citizenship approach by avoiding unwanted hoarding of things and continuing the payment to workers engaged in any establishment.

The governor urged upon the people to follow the state government's notifications on precautionary measures till the coronavirus (COVID 19) threat is gone. He requested all responsible citizens coming from outside the state for self-home quarantine for the mandatory period of 14 days.

Joining the people, the governor and the first lady of the state participated in the ‘Thanksgiving’ to the people involved in the essential services by standing at the door of main entrance of Raj Bhavan main building and clapping for them at 5 pm for 5 minutes. The governor hoped that because of the dedication and sincere effort of these people, alertness of Police officials and preparedness of the State Civil Administration, the State will fully succeed in combating COVID-19 and ensure wellness of our beloved citizens.
