Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh health department has strengthened all surveillance and containment measures against the possible spread of COVID-19 or coronavirus. However, no case of the deadly virus has been detected in the Northeastern state till date.
This was informed by Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme’s (IDSP) state surveillance officer Dr L Jampa, who said that a total of 238 passengers have been screened in Arunachal Pradesh and three passengers who had visited COVID-19 affected countries have been placed in home quarantine.
“One out of the three passengers who was under home quarantine has completed 14 days of required daily observation without developing any symptoms. The other passenger has completed eight days of observation and is presently asymptomatic. The third passenger's observation started on Thursday and has been advised strict home quarantine for 14 days. The daily surveillance of the passenger will be done by the respective district surveillance unit,” Dr Jampa said in a statement.
Meanwhile, a group of 22 youths who arrived here from Hyderabad on Thursday were screened at the Doimukh check post by a medical team which was led by public health specialist Dr Dukam Taipodia and epidemiologist Ili Angu.
