The 57-year-old veteran journalist, dubbed as the pioneer of electronic media in Arunachal Pradesh, breathed his last at a hospital in Naharlagun on Saturday after a prolonged illness
Itanagar: A man, a legend -- Taro Chatung was a pioneer in the field of journalism in Arunachal Pradesh. A simple human being, yet with a daring personality, Chatung never hesitated to ask questions, no matter who stood on the other end, and always made them feel comfortable, no matter how tough those questions were.
Veteran journalist Chatung, dubbed as the pioneer of electronic media in Arunachal Pradesh, died at Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences in Naharlagun on Saturday after a prolonged illness, family sources said.
He was 57 and is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.
Chatung did his certificate course in journalism from the Delhi Institute of Journalism. He is the first accredited electronic media person from the state.
He was very popular for a news-based programme known as "News and Views" which was telecast on Doordarshan.
Chatung was awarded by the state government in 2003 and 2005 for his outstanding performance in journalism.
Chatung was looking forward to scale the Mt Everest someday, or maybe that was his way of encouraging us all to see dreams and live them.
We will miss the legend.
