Guwahati: An Indian Army Cheetah helicopter crashed in Bhutan early on Friday afternoon killing both the pilots on board.

The single-engine helicopter was piloted by Lt Col Rajneesh Parmar of Indian Army and Capt Kalzang Wangdi of Royal Bhutanese Army.

The chopper crashed at 1 pm near Yonphula in Bhutan. The helicopter went out of radio and visual contact soon after 1 pm. It was on its way from Khirmu in Arunachal Pradesh to Yonphula on duty, informed defence PRO.

Ground search and rescue efforts were immediately launched from Yonphula and wreckage site has been located. Indian Air Force (IAF) and Army helicopters were also deployed ex Misamari, Gty, Hashimara for operations.
