Manipur bags 25th Senior Women’s National Football Championship

The Northeast state defeated Railways 1-0 in finals to clinch prestigious event held at Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday

Itanagar: Manipur defeated Railways 1-0 in the finals of the 25th Senior Women’s National Football Championship held at Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday.

On Sunday, Railways defeated last year’s silver medalists Odisha by a convincing margin of 3 goals to one and reached the finals.

On the other hand, defending champions Manipur registered a comfortable win in the second semifinal as they thrashed Tamil Nadu 5-0.

Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao was present on the occasion as the chief guest.

The 25th Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2019 was held at Pasighat, East Siang district from September 10 to 24. This was the first major women’s national championship hosted by the state in the history of Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) since its inception in 1992.
