The Arunachal Tourism Society Aalo in collaboration with West Siang district administration launched a travel writing contest on August 14.

District tourism officer Rita Yorung said, "This pan-India competition -- open to candidates above the age of 18 years -- is aimed to showcase the picturesque and serene beauty and tell the world about undiscovered tourist spots, so far not known to the world, and the potential of tourism in this less-travelled, western part of Arunachal Pradesh and boost tourism."

Besides the above, the judging criteria include creativeness of author, clarity of language and grammar, relevance of text to theme and content, relevance to caption and originality and style.
"Three winners will be selected," said Yorung, adding, "All three winning entries will get an all-expense paid trip in few selected parts of West Siang & Shi-Yomi districts and the opportunity to showcase their experiences on government forum.
The three wimmers will be rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 35,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000, respectively, besides two consolation prizes of rupees Rs 5,000.
