The Union minister of state for youth affairs and sports is the latest to ‘throw it open’ with a roundhouse kick, a fad that has been taking the Internet by storm
Guwahati: Union minister of state (independent charge) for youth affairs and sports Kiren Rijiju is taking his sportsman spirit to a whole new level. On Wednesday, he signed up for the ‘Bottle Cap Challenge’, a fad that is taking the Internet by storm.
In a video that he shared on Instagram on Wednesday morning, Rijiju is seen untwisting the cap of a bottle with a roundhouse kick, as is required for the challenge. The video garnered over 31,000 views in just five hours.
While there seemed to be no particular reason for accepting the challenge, except fitness, Rijiju put up the video with a message: "Say no to drugs. Health is wealth. Get ready for fit India."
Reaping positive response, he was called as the ‘fittest MP from Northeast’ by some users. Another user went on to say that Rijiju's attempt at the challenge was better than Hollywood star Jason Statham's.
Rijiju’s sportsmanship is quite evident as he is often seen attempting different sporting activities himself. His social media handles show him actively playing and participating with other athletes.
The Union minister of state is serving his second term under the NDA government as an MP from the frontier state of Arunachal Pradesh.
Believed to be started by taekwondo fighter and instructor Farabi Davletchin, the Bottle Cap Challenge is spreading like wildfire across the globe. Celebrities such as Jason Statham, Ellie Goulding, John Mayer and others have tried their luck to complete the challenge.
Bollywood, too, caught up with the trend, with a slew of stars like Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Vidyut Jamwal and Siddhant Chaturvedi of Gully Boy-fame, among others, successfully taking up the challenge.
