Jorhat: The mortal remains of the 13 air warriors who lost their lives in the AN-32 aircraft crash in Arunachal Pradesh on June 3 were brought to the Air Force Station in Jorhat, Assam on Thursday.

The bodies will be sent to their hometowns where funeral as per service customs will be carried out, said defence sources.

On June 3, an IAF AN-32 aircraft which took off from Air Force Station in Jorhat went missing with 13 air warriors on board. Over a week later, on June 11, the wreckage of the missing aircraft was found on a mountain slope in Arunachal Pradesh and all the occupants of the ill-fated aircraft were found dead.

Indian Air Force (IAF) stands with the families and next of kin of all the air warriors who lost their lives in the line of duty, said officials. "IAF thanks Indian Army, Indian Navy, NTRO, state administration and civil population for their unstinted support during search and rescue operations," they added.
