Bhaichung to groom U-16 footballers of Arunachal at minimal cost

Talented and deserving players of the state would be given a chance to represent United Sikkim Football Club, said the former Indian footballer during his visit to Ziro

Ziro: Former Indian football team skipper Bhaichung Bhutia on Saturday announced to provide the under-16 footballers of Arunachal Pradesh an opportunity to join his Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools (BBFS) at a minimal cost so that they can sharpen their skills and learn new techniques of the game.

BBFS is a football youth development initiative by Bhutia in association with Football by Carlos Queiroz (FBCQ), a Portuguese football academy by Carlos Queiroz who is a Portuguese football coach and currently the manager of the Colombia national team.

The BBFS aims to cater to children in the age group of 5 to 16 years and deliver coaching experience under the guidance of senior coaches from Portugal through their partnership with FBCQ.

For the ones above 16 years of age, Bhutia, who was in Ziro to participate in the 45th foundation day celebrations of the Apatani Youth Association (AYA), said that the talented and deserving players would be given a chance to represent United Sikkim Football Club (USFC). Bhaichung is the co-owner of SUFC.

“I am always ready to extend all possible support to all those talented persons from Ziro, be it in the field of sports or any other,” Bhaichung said.

As a part of the foundation day celebrations of the AYA, Bhaichung also gave away awards to some outstanding personalities who have excelled in their respective fields and brought glory for the society and State.

The AYA Awards-2019 were conferred to Mudang Omo (marathon runner) and Tailyang Cosy (footballer) in the field of sports, Punyo Chada in the field of discovery for discovering the Apatani Glory Moth, Subu Gambo in the field of film industry for his film "Oha...e" and to Talo Potom in the field of administration for his bold steps taken for beautification of the State capital.

Bhaichung on the day also visited a few places of Ziro valley like Pechi-Putu, the venue of Ziro Festival of Music, popularly known as ZFM. The evening saw the AYA team and Bhaichung visit Naara Aaba Wine Factory, the first organic wine producer of India. This was followed by an interaction programme.

The AYA foundation day celebrations would conclude on Sunday, the day when the association was founded in the year 1974.
